I made four mistakes in my preliminary steps in this Way. I thought that:

I remember Him

and I know Him

and I love Him

and I seek Him,

but when I reached Him I saw that:

His remembering of me preceded my remembrance of Him,

and His knowledge about me preceded my knowledge of Him

and His love towards me was more ancient than my love towards Him,

and He sought me in order that I would begin to seek Him.

”You are not a prophet, but go humbly on the way of the prophets, and you can arrive where they are. Don’t try to steer the boat. Don’t open a shop by yourself. Listen. Keep silent. You are not God‘s mouthpiece. Try to be an ear, and if you do speak, ask for explanations.”
~ Rumi

If there is peace...

If there is to be peace in the world,
There must be peace in the nations.

If there is to be peace in the nations,
There must be peace in the cities.

If there is to be peace in the cities,
There must be peace between neighbors.

If there is to be peace between neighbors,
There must be peace in the home.

If there is to be peace in the home,
There must be peace in the heart.

Lao Tzu (570-490 B.C.)

They the Sufis...

“They (the Sufis) have been the strictest adherents to the sacred law, but they have a wonderful principle: that is be hard on yourself and be gentle with other people.”

- Shaykh Hamza Yusuf Hanson

Shaykh Muḥammad Hajujī at-Tijanī said ...

In our Path, our dhikr isn’t through dancing. Our feet are so deeply rooted in the soil of Shariʿa, we can only sway back and forth like the trees.

Wisdoms Of Islam

The Accuser

"The Prophet has said, "One of the things that concerns me about my nation is a man who studied the Qu'ran, and when its grace started to show on him and he had the appearance of a Muslim, he detached himself from it, and threw it behind his back, and went after his neighbor with a sword and accused him of associating partners with Allah.' I then asked, "Oh, Prophet of Allah, which one is more guilty of associating partners with Allah, the accused or the accuser?' The Prophet said, "It is the accuser.'"

narrated by Abu Ya'la, from Hudhaifa

The one for the soul

There is only one virtue
and one sin for a soul on the path:
virtue when he is conscious of God
and sin when he is not.
- Abu Hashim Madani

Wisdom tree

The tree gives the fruit by its branches. Oh my poor brother! Without giving credit for the branches how will you reach the fruit of wisdom? How will you swallow the seed of that tree of universe and reach wisdom? Whilst the branches bending down are waiting for you, how can you look down on the branches and say, "I will take from the tree itself?" You are poor, how can you climb up that tree and stay on top of it? Even if you climb you cannot find any fruit on its trunk. You cannot find the truth of this business without reaching for the branches.

Muhammad in the Songs of Solomon.

The depiction of the Beloved in the Song of Solomon 5:10-16 (NIV) is a beautiful portrayal of Muhammad, who is known as the Beloved of God by Muslims;

“My lover is radiant and ruddy, outstanding among ten thousand.

His head is purest gold; his hair is wavy and black as a raven.

His eyes are like doves by the water streams, washed in milk, mounted like jewels.

His cheeks are like beds of spice yielding perfume.

His lips are like lilies dripping with myrrh.

His arms are rods of gold set with chrysolite.

His body is like polished ivory decorated with sapphires.

His legs are pillars of marble set on bases of pure gold.

His appearance is like Lebanon, choice as its cedars.

His mouth is sweetness itself; he is altogether lovely.

This is my lover, this my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.”
